PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — A lawsuit has been filed challenging Rhode Island’s recently passed gun control measures.
Days after Gov. Dan McKee held a ceremonial signing of those laws, a Providence law firm representing a local hunting and fishing supply store is challenging their legality.
McKee signed legislation to ban high-capacity magazines, prevent the open carry of loaded rifles, and raise the age to buy a gun or ammunition to 21.
The lawsuit, which was brought by law firm Kelly, Souza and Parmenter on behalf of Big Bear Hunting and Fishing supply store in Harmony, alleges the new laws violate the Fifth Amendment, the Second Amendment, and the due process clause in the 14th Amendment.
